Event presenter in Limburg who genuinely connects with your audience
A successful event needs more than someone who simply announces the next item on the programme.
It calls for a presenter who can read the room. Someone who puts people at ease, brings energy when it’s needed and stays calm when the programme suddenly takes an unexpected turn.
I’m Bas van der Zwaan. Presenter, programme maker and a familiar face to many people in Limburg through the L1 programme Óngerwaeg.
With more than thirty years of experience in front of the camera, on location and during live events, I know how to engage an audience without needing to be the centre of attention myself.
A presenter is the thread that ties your event together
A speaker runs over time. A video starts just a little later than planned. The audience takes longer to arrive. A guest says something unexpected that really calls for a response.
You can prepare a great deal on paper.
Live events always have other ideas.
And that’s exactly where the role of a presenter becomes important.
I make sure the different parts of your event flow naturally from one to the next, so the audience experiences the programme as one coherent whole. I welcome guests, introduce speakers and performers, keep an eye on timing, move naturally between serious and lighter moments and respond to what is happening in the room.
Not by constantly taking the floor myself.
But by being there at exactly the right moment.
A professional presenter brings the different parts of a programme together, creates energy and structure, and keeps the audience engaged throughout the event.
• EVENT PRESENTER LIMBURG
Presenting without a rehearsed routine
Anyone who knows me from Óngerwaeg will know that I like to work with whatever happens in the moment.
For the programme, we travel throughout Limburg without knowing in advance who we will meet or where a conversation might lead. Nothing is scripted and each conversation is recorded in a single take. That requires listening, improvising and quickly sensing where a moment might be heading.
I bring that same experience to live events.
Of course, I prepare thoroughly. I want to understand the organisation, the occasion, who will be in the room and what kind of atmosphere suits the event.
But once it begins, a programme needs room to breathe.
When something unexpected happens, you don’t want a presenter who gets lost because it wasn’t in the running order.
You want someone who watches, listens and keeps things moving.

What kinds of events can you book me for?
Corporate events
From staff evenings to client events and product launches. I provide a professional presentation, keep the programme on track and engage the audience.
Anniversaries and milestones
An anniversary is about more than a year. I bring together the stories, people and special moments in a presentation that feels personal and relatable.
Openings and official occasions
At an opening or official occasion, the presentation needs to be professional without feeling distant. I guide the programme, introduce the people involved and create a natural atmosphere.
Awards and events
From awards ceremonies to association evenings and public events. I keep things moving, create clear transitions and leave plenty of room for spontaneous moments and audience interaction.
• WHAT I STAND FOR
What to expect from me as a presenter
Well prepared
Beforehand, I get to know your organisation, programme, guests and audience. That way, when I’m on stage, I’m not just reading from a script—I understand what the event is about.
Natural and approachable
I like to present the way I have conversations myself: directly, naturally and without unnecessarily complicated language.
A feel for the audience
A room tells you constantly what’s happening. Are people engaged? Is it running too long? Is there room for a joke? Does a moment need space to breathe? That’s what I pay attention to.
No ego on stage
An event isn’t about the presenter. It’s about the client, guests, speakers, winners, employees or anyone else who should be in the spotlight. My job is to make sure they shine.

Event presenter or moderator?
The terms are sometimes used interchangeably, but there is an important difference.
An event presenter primarily guides the audience through the programme, creates the right atmosphere, introduces different elements and maintains a connection with the audience.
A moderator usually takes on a more substantial role in the content, actively guiding conversations, panels and discussions towards the purpose of the event.
Are you organising a conference, symposium, professional gathering or panel discussion where in-depth content and moderation are central to the programme?
Then booking me as a moderator will probably be a better fit.
Not sure exactly which role you need? We can work that out together when we meet.
1. Getting to know each other
We’ll discuss your event, date, venue, audience and expectations.
2. Defining the content
I receive the programme, relevant information about the organisation and background information on guests and speakers.
3. Prepare and coordinate
We’ll go through the run sheet and key moments. Where needed, I’ll help with scripts, introductions, interviews and transitions.
4. Taking the stage
On the day, I make sure to arrive well ahead of time to coordinate with the organisers and technical team.
From that moment on, you won’t have to worry about who’s keeping the programme on track.
I can help.
